We've had three great years of FIRE events to support Adam's work, and this year we are giving back.

For more than a decade, our friends and neighbors in Cedar Heights, Fairmont Heights, and Cheverly's 4th Ward have been fighting an existing asphalt, mining, and concrete crushing operation that currently pollute the air as well as cause significant truck traffic around these neighborhoods - the resident suffer from all this.  Now they want to add a concrete batching facility on the same site and despite loud protests from the community and a number of residents suffering from chronic respiratory illness and disease, the facility was granted a county special exception permit for an additional concrete plant, expanding their polluting operation.    This year, we are donating half of the proceeds from FIRE to the media and legal effort to stop it.

The other half of the proceeds we will be donating to ReWired For Change, a Baltimore based organization for at-risk youth founded by cast and crew members of HBO's television series, The Wire.  Led by actress Sonja Sohn (who plays Det. Kima Greggs), the group utilizes cultural media, creativity, group interaction, and mentorship to help these young people transcend the challenges around them to utilize opportunities for a better life.  We are working with Sonja to increase awareness for this amazing group, and you will have the chance to learn more from her at FIRE.
